The history of Casablanca traces back to more than 1000 years B.C. It has been inhabited by The Phoenicians, Romans and Berbers, and then the city has become one of the important business centers in the era of the state Carthaginian. During the 12th century A.D., the Berbers took over the Christian ships in the Atlantic Ocean, and in the year 1468 A.D. the Portuguese destroyed the city but they returned in year 1515 and rebuilt Casablanca again. Later in year 1755 A.D., the city was destroyed one more time by a strong earthquake, and it was then rebuilt in the 18th century A.D. by Sultan Mohammed ben Abdallah. After that, it was colonized in year 1907 by the French who were the reason behind its flourishment.

The Old Medina is considered one of the preferable tourist attractions in Casablanca. It is a historical city which lies on the northern side of Casablanca and contains a lot of narrow streets where you can enjoy local shops. You can also visit Quartier Habbous which is a cultural area that is famous for its beautiful architectural arts derived from the Arabic and Islamic architecture along with the foreign architecture. You will also find the only Jewish museum in Islamic countries. It contains a collection of religious books, costumes, monuments and other possessions that have been used by Jewish in Morocco. In addition, there is Sidi Abderrahman Mausoleum which consists of a collection of white graves that is only reachable, when the sea water level decreases. There is also Mohammed V square that is considered one of Casablanca's legacies, and it is famous for its creative architecture that combines between oriental arts and modern decorations. Hassan II Mosque is Morocco's main Mosque which is considered the fifth largest mosque in the world in terms of area and is famous for having the tallest minaret that is about 210 meters high. It is a touristic destination that allows the entrance of non-Muslims, and its beauty lies in its decorative carvings and creative architecture. You will also find El Hank Lighthouse which is 51 meters high and La Corniche on the coastal area where tourists enjoy beaches, landscapes, pools, hotels, cafes and restaurants. Casablanca also has a lot of gardens and parks such as Yasmina Fun Park, which contains a large playground for children, and Tamaris Aqua Park.
